American network ESPN have revealed that they have invited all five FIFA Presidential candidates to take part in a televised debate.
The debate is scheduled to take place in London on January 29th, less than a month before the February 26th election. Jerome Champagne has already confirmed that he would like to take part in the debate.
Champagne told Sporting Intelligence, ‘I can tell you that ESPN proposed to the candidates a televised debate in London on 29 January and I have already expressed my agreement".
Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Tokyo Sexwale, Gianni Infantino, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and Champagne are so far the only people guaranteed on the ballot paper. Michel Platini may also be added to the election ticket if he successfully overturns an eight-year ban.
Before last year's election, offers were made to host a debate between outgoing President Sepp Blatter and candidate Prince Ali. The idea fell flat after Blatter turned down the invitation from various British broadcasters.
ESPN lost their rights to broadcast FIFA tournaments after the 2014 World Cup. Fox Sports hold the American rights to the World Cups until 2026.
