Alan Pardew takes aim at Jamie Carragher in pre-match programme notes

Times are tough for Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.

The Londoners had not won in the last 12 Premier League games before Saturday afternoon's game with league leaders Leicester City. Pardew took time in his pre-match programme notes to praise Leicester on their season while bemoaning his side's bad luck.

"Unlike Leicester we have been unfortunate to lose key players for long periods, while the fine margins that decide games in this league have also gone against us too often in recent months."

"Today's opponents have been awarded 10 penalties this season, double that of any other team."

The 54-year-old also criticised Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher about the former Liverpool defender's comments after Palace's previous league game ended in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool. Christian Benteke scored a late penalty after being fouled in the box by Damien Delaney.

"Would Carragher have had the same opinion if Wilf had gone down in the box in the 94th minute of a massive game at Anfield? I suspect not, but loyalties can blur opinions at times."

A first half goal from Riyad Mahrez helped Leicester City to a 1-0 win. Crystal Palace are still looking for their first league win of 2016. Their last win in the Premier League came on December 19th against Stoke City.
