WATCH: Nigel Owens "sin bins" a Leinster ball boy

Nigel Owens is widely regarded as one of the best referees in the world.

The Welsh referee is as well known for his witty remarks, as he is for his performances on the pitch, along with making the game accessible to new audiences.

On Saturday night, Owens was in charge of Leinster's facile 45-9 win over Scarlets, but was "attacked" by a match ball in the final ten minutes.

One of Leinster's ball boys was throwing the ball back to Scarlets replacement fly-half Aled Thomas but he hit Owens' back.

Owens' quick-wittedness saw him take out the yellow card from his pocket and "send" the ball boy to the stands, to an applause from The RDS crowd.

After the game, Owens said he wanted to give the ball boy his jersey from the match as a keepsake.

Five second-half tries from Leo Cullen's side saw Leinster return to the top of the PRO12 table. They have won 14 of their opening 17 games in the league this season.
