WATCH: Jerry Collins grieving teammates perform Haka at accident site

A number of former New Zealand rugby internationals have performed the Maori war dance, the Haka, at the spot on a French road where their former teammate Jerry Collins was killed in a motoring accident last week.

The Haka, known around the world as an All Blacks pre-match ritual, was performed by Ali Williams, Carl Hayman, Neemia Tialata, Chris Masoe, and Byron Kelleher, in the southern French town of Beziers.

Collins, who was born in Samoa, played last season for the second-tier French rugby club Narbonne. He and his wife Alana Madill were both killed when their vehicle collided with a bus early last Friday morning.

The video of the ex-New Zealand players performing the Haka was posted yesterday afternoon on the Twitter account of Neemia Tialata, who currently plays for French club Bayonne.

It features the players paying tribute to Collins, who made his last of his 48 appearances for the All Blacks when New Zealand were defeated by France in the 2007 World Cup quarter-final in Cardiff.

Ayla Collins, the couple’s two-month old baby daughter remains in a critical condition in a Montpellier hospital.
