Steve Hansen: New Zealand still rusty despite 12-try win over Samoa

New Zealand rugby union head coach Steve Hansen claims his side look rusty despite hammering Samoa in Auckland on Friday.

They warmed up for the first Test against the British and Irish Lions by scoring 78 points without reply in Auckland. Julian Savea was New Zealand's stand-out player after he scored a hat-trick of tries at Eden's Park.

After the game, Hansen told Sky Sports, they need to improve before facing Warren Gatland's British and Irish Lions next weekend.

"We know we've got a lot of work to do and look forward to the Maoris getting stuck into the Lions tomorrow night, before we get our chance the following Sunday," he said.

Meanwhile, Gatland is expected to add as many as six extra players to his British and Irish Lions squad next week.

They would be brought in to ease pressure on the first-choice 23 for three Tests against the All Blacks and would feature in tour matches against the Chiefs and the Hurricanes.
