McCaw will be free to lead out the All Blacks against Australia in the World Cup final on October 31st.
After an incident involving Spring Boks player Francois Louw on the weekend, there was some suspicion that McCaw could be cited as it left the South Africa player needing treatment.

However, it seems that World Rugby decided that the skipper should not be cited for the incident, deeming that contact was with McCaw's hip and not his elbow, and that it was not deliberate.

Speaking about the speculation and media frenzy surrounding the incident, New Zealand coach Steven Hansen said that it was a "mark of respect" as he is a player that rival teams really struggle to cope with: "He's a man that draws a lot of attention because he's a great player, probably the greatest player certainly to play for the All Blacks, maybe even in the history of the game".
He added that he was not worried about it having any kind of impact on the player himself, stating "he'll take it in his stride".
