Quinn Roux called into Ireland squad

Quinn Roux has been called into Ireland's squad for the tour of the United States and Japan.

Roux has one cap to his name, having been a surprising inclusion on last year's tour to South Africa. The 26-year-old played in the final test partnering Devin Toner in the second-row.

The Connacht lock was the final player called into the squad after 31 players were named last week. He will join up with the rest of the squad next week in Carton House as preparations continue for the tour.

Roux's inclusion means there is no place for provincial teammate Ultan Dillane. After missing two months with injury, Dillane returned to action last weekend against Northampton in the Champions Cup play-off.

While the squad has eight uncapped players included, Ireland's backroom team will also have a new feel to it. Racing 92's Ronan O'Gara, Leinster's Girvan Dempsey and Munster's Felix Jones will all join the coaching staff during the tour, working with the side for a week each.

Ireland's first game of the Summer Tour takes place against USA in New Jersey on Saturday, 10th June.

The squad then flies to Japan for two Tests against the 2019 Rugby World Cup hosts who have been drawn in Pool A alongside Ireland at the World Cup. The first Test takes place in Shizuoka on 17th June with the final Test of the tour in Tokyo on 24th June.
