Brian O'Driscoll believes the familiarity between Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt and his Scotland counterpart Vern Cotter could lead to a tactical match in tomorrow's Six Nations match.
Both men crossed paths on the coaching ticket at Clermont between 2007 and 2010, and speaking to Off The Ball tonight alongside ex-Scotland international Andy Nicol, our guest presenter Brian thinks that could influence proceedings.
"With the Vern Cotter, Joe Schmidt thing going on, there is an extra dynamic to it having both coached together at Clermont and Vern will know the inner workings of Joe and all his power plays and what he likes to go to. So there might be more of a game of chess," said Brian.
Meanwhile, Nicol sees some promise in this Scotland team in the near future.
"I think in eight, 10 or 12 months, this Scotland team - if they can keep them together and don't get the injuries like they've just had with Alex Dunbar - there's enough there to turn this around," said Nicol, who also feels that keeping hold of head coach Vern Cotter will be vital for the future of the national team.
