Connacht full-back Mils Muliaina has been arrested after the province's 14-7 defeat to Gloucester in the Challenge Cup.
The ex-New Zealand international, who played in the first half of that match, was filmed being led away from Kingsholm Stadium by police.
The arrest is reportedly connected to an alleged incident in Cardiff last month.
In a statement, Gloucestershire police said: "A man in his 30s was arrested at Kingsholm Stadium tonight in relation to an alleged incident in Cardiff in March. It is a matter being dealt with by South Wales Police."
Connacht confirmed the development in a statement: "Connacht Rugby can confirm that player Mils Muliaina is currently assisting the South Wales Police with enquiries relating to an alleged incident in Cardiff in March of this year. As this is a legal matter, Connacht Rugby will be making no further comment at this time."
It comes days after Connacht confirmed that Muliaina would be leaving the province to join Italian side Zebre at the end of this season.
