Fergus McFadden's ankle injury will keep the winger out of action for Leinster between four and six weeks.
McFadden suffered a sprain during Leinster’s defeat to Munster in Saturday’s Guinness Pro-12 clash in the Aviva, and Leinster confirmed that a scan has ruled the player out while he recovers.
The Irish international will now miss Leinter’s Champions Cup pool stage ties with Wasps and Castres, but could be back in time for Ireland’s games against Australia and Georgia in November.
In other news, the Leinster and Munster head coaches continue to hold differing opinions about the refereeing during last Saturday's game.
Leinster coach Matt O'Connor expressed disappointment after the match at the referee's failure to control “cynical play.”
At today’s launch of the European Champions Cup, O'Connor insisted that game officials enforce rules by “the letter of the law.”
Munster head coach Anthony Foley saw four of his players sin-binned on Saturday, said that Munster had also had issues with the refereeing, but that the team’s focus was not on preparing for their next match with Welsh side Scarlets.
