Ian Madigan is on Off The Ball tomorrow for a studio interview and the Ireland player had a good game against Scotland in the second of our pre-Rugby World Cup warm-up games.
He was one of a few men in green shirts who stood out in a relatively under-par performance, and former Leinster and Ireland second-row reckons that Joe Schmidt now has a headache when it comes to selecting the second-choice out-half with Ulster's Paddy Jackson also in the reckoning.
He told Off The Ball: "It was really brilliant stuff from Madigan, even though as Schmidt pointed out, there were one or two missed tackles. But apart from that I think he was excellent and it's a bit of a tricky one now as to who's actually second behind Sexton. The received wisdom in my opinion that Jackson was No 2 but he would still go with Madigan as the sub because he's more flexible. I think now it's more clear cut and it could be Madigan after the weekend has jumped in to No 2."
Meanwhile, Trevor believes Simon Zebo's positional flexibility puts him in "bonus territory" when it comes to his hopes of securing a spot in the World Cup squad, and mused whether Schmidt's habit of pointing out the Munster player's areas to work on could be as much about psychology as anything else.
