Keith Wood believes Ewen McKenzie's philosophy would suit Leinster as the province seek a new head coach.
Speaking to Off The Ball tonight, the former Ireland captain assessed the candidates and had good things to say about Australia's former head coach.
"They will go from outside the pack if they have to and they will go for someone who fits the bill. Ewen McKenzie is an interesting one in terms of his rugby philosophy. It is unbelievably quick and attack, and attack and attack oriented. It would absolutely fit into the Leinster bill," said Keith.
The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley also joined us as always on Wednesday Night Rugby and spoke about Ireland's head coach Joe Schmidt's press conference in which he distanced himself from Leinster's decision to part with Matt O'Connor.
"I don't believe he had any active part or hand in the decision. My understanding is that he had a meeting that same Monday with Guy Easterby in an effort to improve working relations with Leinster and with Matt O'Connor. But he did accept today that there was some proximity at the press conference and I don't think that press conference he and David Nucifora called in which they rebuked Matt O'Connor for his interpretation of the game management program - and fairly witheringly as well - while, they had no hand or active part in the decision by the professional game board, I don't think that would have helped and in this day and age, impression is everything," he said.
Keith and Gerry also looked ahead to tomorrow's clash between Barbarians and Ireland in Limerick and the players who could make a mark with other important matters with an eye to the future.
Plus they talked about Munster legend Paul O'Connell as he prepares to leave the province and potentially take up a place at Toulon.
