Keith Wood spoke to Pat Kenny this morning ahead of the Shannon Airport European Sport Tourism Summit taking place next month at Thomond Park in Limerick.
The former Irish captain was instrumental in bringing the event to Limerick and he hopes it will show the value of sports tourism in Ireland.
The country has excellent experience in hosting international sporting events such as the Special Olympics World Games, the Ryder Cup and also some stages of the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia.
Last December it was announced that Ireland will bid to host the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Keith speaks with Pat about the bid, whether he thinks Ireland have the infrastructure in place and also about the growth in sports tourism in Ireland.
