Ireland tame Pumas in U20 World Cup opener

The Ireland U20s have made a winning start to their World Cup opener after a dramatic victory over Argentina.

Substitute out-half Tomás Quinlan scored a penalty with the last kick of the game to snatch an 18-16 win in Parma.

Quinlan, who was only called into the panel last week following an injury to first-choice out-half Ross Byrne, held his nerve to convert from a tight angle and secure a narrow win.

Out-half Joey Carbery had been perfect from the kicking-tee, scoring a crucial five from five to keep Ireland in it.

Nigel Carolan's side will now face Scotland on Saturday.
