The Irish management say that Marty Moore and Andrew Trimble could both feature in Saturday's World Cup warm-up against Wales.
Moore is still wearing a protective boot but the Leinster prop has not been ruled out of Saturday's game, which is the last match before Joe Schmidt must announce his 31-man World Cup panel.
Trimble has returned to training after a foot injury, while assistant coach Les Kiss has revealed that Cian Healy is being monitored on an hourly basis as they assess if he will be fit enough to be included in the tournament squad.
"You've got to lean on a number of things. One of those is the type of person you're dealing with, the experience they offer, experience they've had at that level of football and also the experience they've had in the major competitions," said Kiss.
"Cian's a lot of that experience. I don't think it's a precedent that something like that could happen if it is to happen."
