Lions legend Ian McGeechan has criticised the decision by Warren Gatland to call up players to the tour based on their proximity to the current squad.
Gatland has called up four Welsh players and two Scots to add cover to his squad as the test series approaches.
The Lions are due to play the Waikato Chiefs on Tuesday with the first test against New Zealand next weekend.

"It's difficult to justify geography," said the former Lions coach, adding: "I think if that was always part of his planning then he could have been speaking to Eddie Jones, for, certainly the England players to be released last week.
"I think Joe Launchbury and one or two others will be feeling a little bit upset."
Gatland was McGeechan's Forwards Coach for the 2009 tour to South Africa.
