WATCH: Marcus Smith sparks phenomenal Harlequins try

Harlequins scored an absolutely beautiful try today against Montpellier.

Joe Marchant capped the score off by touching the ball down but Danny Care and Marcus Smith's combination kicked it off.

"It was a privilege to watch that."

Marcus Smith is in the midst of the English media hype machine. Ever since joining the Lions tour as a late addition last year, Smith's star has continued to rise at club and international level. He's an outstanding, young prospect. One of the best young out halves and best young rugby players in the world.

Of course, wider English media is already getting too far ahead of themselves and trying to ruin it for the rest of us.

Smith sparked a try for Harlequins against Montpellier on Saturday. 30 minutes into the game, Montpellier kicked a penalty to touch that Danny Care kept in. He flipped the ball back to Smith who immediately looked to run from deep in his own territory.

That is simply the type of game that Harlequins and Montpellier are playing. It was Harlequins' third try of the game and the two teams had combined for more than 100 points at halftime of their second leg. Montpellier instantly replied with a try of their own after Smith's to maintain their 10-point lead.

Smith is central to Harlequins success and he will be pivotal for Eddie Jones' England moving forward. Harlequins embrace his style of play and set him up to show off his full skill set. Thankfully for the rest of the world, Jones hasn't shown a willingness to do that just yet.

Marcus Smith and Joey Carbery suffer from the same thing - Matt Williams.
