Guy Noves will be unveiled as France head coach after this year’s rugby World Cup.
Speaking this morning, the French rugby federation (FFR) will part with current manager Philippe Saint-Andre after serving only one term as manager.
The 61-year-old has enjoyed an incredibly successful spell with the Top 14 side, winning 10 national title and four Europeans Cups during his 22-year tenure as Toulouse coach.
“To be at the head of the France XV and to represent one’s country is both a great honour and a heavy responsibility” he said in a statement this morning.
French sports daily L’Equipe reported that he will be assisted by current France forwards coach Yannick Bru and Stade Francais backs coach Jean-Frederic Dubois.
“With Guy Noves, the FFR (Federation) and the France team can count on the passion but also the competence of the most beautiful record in French rugby” said Pierre Camou, president of the FFR.
France have been drawn in Group D at the World Cup being held in England, alongside Ireland, Italy, Canada and Romania.
Under Saint-Andre, France never finished higher than fourth in the Six Nations, even ending up with the wooden spoon in the 2013 Six Nations, the first time in 14 years France finished last in the championship.
