Guinness PRO12 Results: Wins for Munster and Ulster

Munster and Ulster gave Irish rugby a boost as both sides recorded wins in the Guinness PRO12 Championship on Friday night.

The impressive results were capped off by the fact that both teams had been awarded try bonus points before half time.

In Cork, Munster lead 31-10 at the break thanks to tries from Jaco Taute (x2), Andrew Conway and a penalty try. Rhys Buckley replied for the visitors. The sides had traded penalties earlier on in the match.

Conway's try was preceeded by an intercept from Tyler Bleyendaal who then judged a kick ahead to perfection for the on-rushing Conway to collect and score beside the posts.

The second half saw less scoring action although Elliott Dee went over for the visitors to narrow the lead for a short time before David Kilcoyne and Ronan O'Mahoney saw the red army home 45-17.

In Belfast, Ulster and Edinburgh entertained the crowd to a six-try first half.

Paul Marshall, Louis Ludik, Darren Cave and Jacob Stockdale scored the tries for the home side while Marcus Bradbury and Stuart McInally got over the line for the visitors.

It was a much tighter second half after Enidburgh's Damien Hoyland scored in the corner to bring the scores to 24-15. Sam Hidalgo-Clyne made it a one score game when he slotted over a penalty in the 65th minute.

However Les Kiss' charges were able to hold out for a valuable 24-18 win.

Elsewhere Glasgow Warriors lost 26-14 against the Scarlets and the Ospreys beat Zebre by 40-10.
