Glasgow beat Munster in the Pro12 Final

Glasgow Warriors were deserved winners of the Pro12 after defeating Munster by 31-13 in the final in Belfast, outscoring the Irish province by four tries to one.

The Scottish side won the league for the first time in their history and went one better than last year. They lost to Leinster in last years final in the RDS.

Gregor Townsend's side were never behind in the game and took the lead through a Rob Harley try in the first ten minutes. The side never looked back from that early lead and further tries from DTH van der Merwe and Henry Pygros saw Glasgow take a bead lead in at the break.

A try from Munster's Andrew Smith before the break meant that Glasgow's lead was only 11 points at the break, 21-10.

The second half was a case of solidifying the lead for the Scottish side, but Munster only got within eight points of the winners as Ian Keatley slotted over a penalty after the break.

Glasgow ensured the win on the hour mark as Finn Russell broke through the Munster defence to score his sides fourth try which he converted himself.

The win is the first by a Scottish side since the Celtic League was formed in 2001 and the Warriors become only the fifth side to be crowned league champions.

Paul O'Connell's fairytale ending failed to materialise and he failed to win a fourth league title in the red of Munster ahead of his move to Toulon.
