Ex-Ireland star lists five nations more likely to win the Rugby World Cup than Ireland

Former Ireland rugby international Fergus Slattery believes Ireland only have a 10 per cent probability of winning the upcoming Rugby World Cup and that there are five nations with a better shot at glory.

The ex-Ireland, Lions and Barbarians flanker was on one of Off The Ball's panels in Kerry for Caps To The Summit alongside former Leinster captain Liam Toland and former Ireland women's captain Fiona Coughlan.

"I would put New Zealand down 90-plus per cent probability of winning the World Cup this year and I would Australia, South Africa, France, England in second place at about 25 per cent and then I would put Ireland and Wales at about 10 per cent. And that's just being realistic about it," he said, adding that the All Blacks should have won more World Cups than the two that they have managed thus far.
