Connacht saw victory slip from their grasp at the Sportsground tonight as the concession of second half penalties saw Edinburgh record a 16-13 win in the Guinness Pro 12.
After conceding the opening try of the game to Edinburgh forward David Denton, Connacht recovered to lead 13-7 at half-time in Galway thanks largely to a penalty try awarded to their scrum.
But Edinburgh played with the wind at their backs in the second half and the Scottish side scored two penalties through Sam Hidalgo-Clyne to level the game at 13 points apiece.
And it was Hidalgo-Clyne who clinched the win for the Scottish side with another three points from the boot 10 minutes from time.
Connacht remain sixth in the table.
In the night's other Pro 12 clash, Glasgow Warriors rose to the top of the standings after defeating Llanelli Scarlets 22-7 at home.
