Connacht name team to face the Scarlets

Connacht coach Pat Lam has named his side to face the Scarlets on Saturday as he prepares for the Champions Cup play-offs at the end of the season.

The Galway side are currently in eight place in the Guinness PRO12 Championship as the season draws to a close.

Lam is without star centre Bundee Aki who was banned for three matches earlier this week and is one of 12 players who are unavailable for selection.

Finlay Bealham, Dave Heffernan and Dominic Robertson-McCoy start in the front row with James Cronin and Andrew Browne named at lock.

Sean O'Brien, Jake Heenan and Eoghan Masterson make up the back row unit.

Caolin Blade and Marnitz Boshoff are the half-back pairing with Eoin Griffin and Tom Farrell completing the midfield.

Cian Kelleher and Darragh Leader start on the wings with Tiernan O'Halloran named at full-back.

Shane Delahunt, Denis Buckley, JP Cooney, Quinn Roux, John Muldoon, John Cooney, Craig Ronaldson and Danie Poolman are named on the bench.

Speaking ahead of the match, Lam said: "With Champions Cup being our main focus, the next two games present a great opportunity to prepare for the qualification playoffs in May. It allows us to give guys coming back from long-term injuries a chance to perform against a quality Scarlets side.

“Tomorrow night is our last PRO12 game at home and as always, we will be looking to put in a huge effort for us and our supporters who have been fantastic all season.”
