There are renewed concerns over the fitness of Jonathan Sexton with less than three weeks to go until the start of Ireland's autumn campaign.

Leinster revealed on Monday that the 36-year old out-half requires further assessment on a hip injury.

Sexton started Saturday's United Rugby Championship win at home to the Scarlets on Saturday, but was substituted early in the second half.

Head coach Leo Cullen said after the game, "Johnny has his hip flexor thing. He was happy in the dressing room, happier that when [he left], he’s hopefully OK. Again, we’ll get him assessed."

Leinster said on Monday that a final call would be made on Sexton's fitness ahead of Friday's game away to Glasgow Warriors.

The game at Scotstoun is the last provincial outing ahead of Ireland's opening November international with Japan on November 6.

James Ryan is also unlikely to travel to Glasgow this week, as he undergoes the graduated return-to-play protocols having taken a knock to the head in Saturday's 50-15 win at the RDS.

Robbie Henshaw is definitely out of Friday's game with a foot injury, but the centre will take part in training this week as he increases his workload.

Jimmy O'Brien - a late withdrawal from the squad that face Scarlets - will have his illness assessed further.

Rory O'Loughlin returns to training this week, but will be monitored having missed Leinster's last couple of games.

Harry Byrne and Dave Kearney are back in full training ahead of the Glasgow trip following respective hip and ankle injuries.
