Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has selected the uncapped pair of Leinster backrow Jack Conan and Connacht prop Nathan White in an extended 46-man squad for the Six Nations matches against Italy (February 7th) and France (February 14th).
This squad will also be drawn from for the Irish Wolfhounds' game against England Saxons in Cork on Friday, January 30th.
Robin Copeland, David Kilcoyne, Luke Marshall, Donncha Ryan and Andrew Trimble have been committed for the opening two games to "remain with their provinces to continue their recovery or to gain game time" according to an IRFU statement.
Schmidt said: "The coaching group have tried to strike a balance between some players getting the chance to fully complete their rehabilitation programmes, or get a bit of rest and others getting the opportunity to push their claims with further game time in the Wolfhounds fixture.”
