The Ireland Under 20 side face New Zealand tonight in their final Pool C game of the World Rugby Championships tonight. Nigel Carolan's side currently lie in second place behind their opponents and need to win to guarantee a spot in the semi finals.
With only three pools in the Championships, only the best second placed team will reach the semi finals. That spot is currently held by Australia, who trail South Africa in Pool B. Both of those sides face each other tonight. In Pool A, France trail England by a point. They play each other in Calvisano later today with a semi final berth at stake.
If Ireland fail to beat the Kiwis they must score two bonus points and will have to rely on results in Pool A and B to reach the last four. The more realistic option at the moment is that Ireland will battle for the 5th place play off.
The sides best performance in the tournament came last year when they finished in fourth place in New Zealand.
Ireland's team was named yesterday, for this evenings game. It kicks off at 7.30pm in Viadana.
