Niamh Briggs has been confirmed as Ireland captain for the Women's Six Nations Championship.
The Munster and UL Bohemians fullback succeeds Fiona Coghlan, who retired following Ireland's fourth-placed finish at last year's World Cup.
"It's a massive privilege to represent your country at any level," said Briggs, "but to captain your country is a great honour and I was delighted to be asked.
"It's a hugely proud moment for me and for my family who have been great support throughout my career."
Ireland's women begin their Six Nations campaign away to Italy on Friday, February 6th.
