'If someone wants to cheat, I'd imagine they're going to do it very privately'

The issue of doping in rugby has been raised recently and tonight on Off The Ball, Brian O'Driscoll gave his take on it.

"If someone wants to cheat, I would imagine they're going to do it very privately. They're not going to be telling those around them about what's going on," he said, also explaining how rigorous the testing regimes are, before speaking about legal supplements.

"Personally I was never into supplementation. I tried a few things along the way. I found very little difference, in fact no difference when I tried it. It wasn't worth the hassle of taking something three or four times a day."

Brian also spoke about the upcoming European Champions Cup games, as well as JJ Hanrahan's future at Munster.

Although he believes picking Hanrahan to start against Clermont is completely unrelated to links with Northampton, Brian backed Anthony Foley's decision from a tactical point of view.

"All the chatter in the week has not had a bearing on his addition to the team. They're two separate issues. I would imagine no matter what, JJ was going to start at 12 this weekend which I think personally is a really smart play by Anthony."

Brian believes Jonny Sexton will still be playing at the top level until the age of 35 or 36, so he gave his take on whether former Leinster team-mate Ian Madigan and Hanrahan should focus on establishing themselves at inside centre rather than fly-half.

With Christmas party season coming up, he chatted about the rugby side of that coin.

Plus he made his Crappy Quiz debut. But did he win?
