'I couldn't see any Munster people having an issue with O'Connell finishing up this year'

According to reports in some quarters, tomorrow's Pro 12 clash between Munster and Ospreys will be Paul O'Connell's final match at Thomond Park for before playing the World Cup as a free agent.

With Toulon reportedly maintaining an interest in signing the Ireland captain, Off The Ball guest presenter Brian O'Driscoll says no one can begrudge O'Connell if he does end up taking up an offer.

"If those reports are true, good luck to him. He deserves a bit of a pension that I'm sure he might get down there but he's given everything to the red jersey and I couldn't see any fans or anyone in Munster having an issue finishing up this year - albeit he's meant to be contracted after the World Cup," said Brian.

He believes his former international and Lions team-mate will relish the calibre of players he would be playing alongside.

"Paulie is a perfectionist and he would really thrive in that environment, seeing guys being really good pros," he said.

Brian also gave his take on the Pro 12 semi-finals, including Munster's clash with Ospreys.
