Brian O’Driscoll has elaborated on Lawrence Dallaglio’s retribution for following the former Ireland captain's infamous “prawn sandwich” comments back in the 2004 Six Nations.
England were world champions going into the Twickenham tie and then-skipper O’Driscoll, stealing a line from Roy Keane, quipped in advance of the match: "Hopefully, we can give the prawn sandwich brigade something to choke on."
However, tonight on Off The Ball the Leinster legend admitted to Ger that England captain Dallaglio didn’t let him away with it!
“Lawrence Dallaglio got me in the bottom of a ruck and had a couple of choice words with me and stuck a few into me,” said O’Driscoll. “Obviously it served as bit of a motivation for him!
“And I’m friends with Lawrence these days – I’ve let it go.”

Also on the show, O’Driscoll backed Joe Schmidt’s call to pick Ian Keatley at 10 ahead of Ian Midigan for Ireland's Six Nations opener in Rome tomorrow, and gave rave reviews to Iain Henderson, who was a star man for the Wolfhounds last weekend.
“He was the shining light above everyone else,” said O’Driscoll of the Ulsterman's performance in the Cork encounter. “He was light years ahead of everyone else.
“You have to remember, he was an integral part of last year’s success. The more rugby he gets, the more pressure he’ll put on Devin Toner. Devin will need to up his game going into the World Cup because this guy’s a really, really good athlete and if he can get all the calls right and get his head right – he is a handful to deal with.
He added: “Joe scares people into getting calls right.”
BOD also admitted it’s not easy looking in from the outside at the first Six Nations since his retirement. “I can’t fight the urge to want to be involved,” he said.
