Scotland have handed a first senior call up to American-born Rufus McLean who's included in their 34-man squad for Sunday's Six Nations fixture against Ireland.

Exeter's Sam Skinner and Edinburgh's Nick Haining have also been recalled by head coach Gregor Townsend.

Zander Fagerson and Adam Hastings are both absent for the game at Murrayfield due to suspension.

There's no Richie Gray either, with the lock having sustained a head injury during Glasgow Warriors' recent Guinness PRO14 defeat to Leinster at the RDS.

Josh Bayliss, Grant Stewart and D’Arcy Rae are the others to miss out.

Boston-born McLean has impressed during his recent outings for Glasgow Warriors in the PRO14.

Scotland go into the weekend fifth in the Six Nations table, following their Calcutta Cup win over England and a round-2 defeat to Wales.

Their last scheduled game with France was postponed on account of a COVID-19 outbreak in the French camp.

Jacob Stockdale is restored to the Ireland squad for Sunday's game with the Scots. The Ulster back has missed the opening three rounds through injury, but has found fitness and form upon his return to provincial action.
