After an Australian rugby player dies of a head injury, is it time for rugby's rules to change?

“This is an opportunity to draw a line in the sand”

The words of Conor O'Brien on the Right Hook after the death of 25 year-old regional rugby player Nicholas Tooth this past Saturday.

Quirindi Lions' Nick Tooth was airlifted to hospital after a clash of heads while playing Narrabri Blue Boars, and died on Sunday despite surgery.

Former Leinster Rugby doctor O'Brien reckons the IRB is going to have to sit up and take notice despite this being somewhat of a freak occurance.  He says it was 'inevitable' that this would happen on a rugby pitch at some point.

O'Brien wants to see the game played differently for the sake of the health of those who love and play the game.

“Rugby has become a collision game.  Players now look for a target”
