Ireland international Niyi Adeolokun will leave Connacht when his contract expires next month as the province prepare for sweeping changes this summer.

Nigerian born Adeolokun has played 94 games for Connacht and was a try scorer in their victory against Leinster in the 2016 Guinness PRO12 final in Edinburgh.

Fellow PRO12 winner Eoin McKeon will also depart the province after making over 100 appearances since joining in 2010.

Hooker Tom McCartney has announced his retirement and is returning to New Zealand after six seasons in Galway.

Also among the 12 departures from the Sportsground this summer are Darragh Leader, Australian duo David Horwitz and Kyle Godwin and English forward Joe Maksymiw.

"The nature of professional rugby means there will always be comings and goings," Connacht head-coach Andy Friend said of the players prepare to leave the club.

"I would personally like to wish all our departing players every success in the future and thank them for their contributions to Connacht Rugby, both on and off the field.

"We all share in the players' disappointment that they were unable to get a proper send-off at the Sportsground due to Covid, but they can be always assured of a warm welcome by the club and our supporters at any time in the future."
