Reports | Thierry Henry among Arsenal legends backing Swedish takeover

Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira have all reportedly backed Daniel Ek's bid to buy Arsenal.

The Swedish billionaire declared his interest in owning the club last week, amid growing fan pressure on current owner Stan Kroenke.

Ek - co-founder of streaming service Spotify - tweeted on Friday that he would be interested in buying the club, and has reportedly enlisted the help of the three club legends.

"As a kid growing up, I've cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring," he tweeted.

The Telegraph report today that Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp have been drafted in to help with the bid.

However, Ek's interest has been dismissed by the Kroenke family.

Fans protested against the Kroenke family prior outside the Emirates Stadium prior to Arsenal's defeat to Everton on Friday night, off the back of Arsenal's participation in the failed European Super League plan.

And in an earlier interview with The Telegraph yesterday, the club's record goalscorer Thierry Henry spoke out against the owners, who he believes have made his club unrecognisable.

"I do not recognise my club and what happened just now, with them trying to join a league that would have been closed, makes no sense to me," he said.

"They have been running the club like a company, not a football club, and they showed their hand.

"Maybe it's a lack of understanding of the core football values and maybe the money was too big of a temptation. But whatever it was, they got it wrong. Badly wrong.

"I was genuinely shocked like most people and couldn't believe what was unfolding.

"I have never talked before, but what happened recently made me realise fans, this is your club. It is your club and I'm an Arsenal fan too.

"I'm proud of what the fans achieved. Not just Arsenal fans, all the fans. The result was a victory for football," Thierry Henry added.
