Ralf Rangnick issues positive injury update on Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that five players will be unavailable for his side to face Liverpool on Tuesday.

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that five players will be unavailable for his side to face Liverpool on Tuesday, however he was positive about Bruno Fernandes.

In his press conference on Monday ahead of his side's visit to Merseyside on Tuesday, Rangnick confirmed the players that were not available for selection against Jurgen Klopp's men.

Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane all missed United’s previous two fixtures. Fred was forced off in the first half at Goodison Park last week and joined the the injured players on the sidelines for the weekend win over the Canaries.

On Monday, Rangnick revealed that all five remain unavailable and will miss the trip to Liverpool on Tuesday.

"Rapha [Varane] didn't train with the team," Rangnick said. "He was on the pitch with one of our rehab coaches.

"But with regard to injured players, we have the same situation that we had in the last two games."

However, Rangnick was positive about the status of Portuguese midfielder Fernandes, who was involved in a car accident on Monday morning.

"The accident happened on the way to Carrington," Rangnick said. "But as far as I know, nobody was injured. He trained with the team and he was okay, and that's why I think he will also be ok for tomorrow."

United will face Liverpool in the Premier League at 8pm on Tuesday evening. Klopp's side come into the match just days after reaching the final of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to contend with, with Diogo Jota having passed a late fitness test to make a cameo appearance the semi-final against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Portuguese striker had suffered a knock in last week's Champions League clash with Benfica.

Premier League top scorer Mo Salah also appeared to pick up a minor injury against the Portuguese side last week, but shook it off to start against Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday.
