Nina Carberry tells us why she's decided to retire

It was the end of an era for Nina Carberry on Monday as the jockey announced her retirement from the sport.

It brings the curtain down on a career that saw the Ashbourne, Co Meath native win her first Cheltenham race in 2005 and also following that up in 2011 with a victory at the Irish Grand National aboard Organisedconfusion.

She joined Nathan and Kevin on the line to talk about her career and decision to call time on it, shortly after fellow jockey and sister in law Katie Walsh announced her retirement.

"It was great to end it as a winner as well," she said, referencing her win at the 2018 Punchestown Festival.

"I was fine during the winter, going to Clonmel or Thurles on a Thursday and then racing at the weekends. But during the summer, it's pretty tough most days. It's evening racing and it just wouldn't have suited me so I just felt if I couldn't give it 110%, it wasn't for me.

"I've been doing it for all my life and if I can't do it 110%, that it was just the time to give up so I just kind of had a chat with myself and I said, 'This is the time now' and I'm glad the way it finished and I got out in one piece."
