"Every day is a good day, I try to stay positive" | Dave Clark on life with Parkinson's

Dave Clark joined Off The Ball on Wednesday, the Sky Sports presenter cuts an inspirational figure as he continues to work nine years on from being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Clark spoke about the juggle and the struggle as he looks towards presenting a twentieth PDC World Darts Championship in a row.

In a searingly-honest appraisal of what the future holds, Clark hopes to do another year or so on screen before he will be forced to retire due to his illness.

The drugs do work, says Clark about coping with Parkinson's on a daily basis. Despite the wonders of modern medicine, Clark's medication was invented back in 1967, it still helps him.

"Without the drugs, I find walking and my speech isn't as good."

"The time when I finish doing the darts isn't too far away, I'd like to do another year or so before I eventually retire from it.

"I still enjoy it and I still think I do a professional job on it. As soon as I feel I'm not doing that then I will know the time is right to call it a day."

Incurable

Clark is an optimist and having written a piece on 'How to live a happy life with Parkinson's', tries to live in the moment as he knows what lies ahead isn't welcoming.

"Every day is a good day, I try to stay positive and do the best I can, so who knows what the future holds.

"I don't look into the future too much because the future for me is not bright.

"Parkinson's is incurable - bottom line - and I'm going to end up in a wheelchair. I won't be able to walk and talk in years to come.

"Hopefully, we will sort out a cure in the coming years and hopefully, that won't happen to me.

"Man has landed on in moon but I'm still on the same drugs as were used then.

"They are using combination therapies, repurposing drugs that have been used for other things.

"I'm hopeful we can sort something out, but probably too late for me."
