PL round-up: Liverpool extend lead to ten points

Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League table is now ten points after Leicester City failed to beat Norwich City in their meeting at the King Power Stadium.

Mo Salah's double helped Liverpool to a 2-0 lunchtime win over Watford at Anfield, but Leicester City were held at home by Norwich City to leave the Foxes now ten points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's European champions.

Indeed, it could have been worse for Leicester - they fell 1-0 behind thanks to Teemu Pukki's opener, before a Jamie Vardy's effort, which was eventually chalked down as Tim Krul own goal, brought Leicester level before half-time.

Leicester are seven points clear of Manchester City in third - but City can close that gap to four points if they win at the Emirates tomorrow [Sunday] against Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's place within the top four looks less secure after another loss, this time at home to Bournemouth. After a VAR check, Dan Gosling's 84th-minute goal was awarded to give the Cherries all three points.

Manchester United can move to within two points of Frank Lampard's side if they win at home to Everton tomorrow.

For tonight at least, though, Sheffield United occupy fifth place after they were 2-0 winners over Aston Villa at Bramall Lane - John Fleck's second-half brace proved to be the difference.

Burnley moved further away from the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Chris Wood's 58th-minute goal was enough to secure the three points for Sean Dyche's side.

In the evening game, a 1-0 win for West Ham over Southampton eased the pressure on Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini - and heaped the pressure on his counterpart Ralph Hasenhuttl.

In a close contest at St Mary's, Sebastien Haller's 37th-minute goal was enough to bring West Ham up to 15th in the table.

This latest loss for Southampton leaves them inside the relegation zone in 18th.
