Paul Geaney on All-Star recognition: "It's a great honour to have"

Kerry's Paul Geaney joined The Saturday Panel on Off the Ball to look back at the 2017 All-Star awards.

The football selection was dominated by Dublin and Mayo who picked up 13 awards between them. Tyrone's Colm Cavanagh and Geaney were the only players who didn't play in the final to make the All-Star selection.

"I'll be honest, I was nervous last night," the Kerryman told Richie McCormack. "I didn't think I'd be as worried but it is a big deal. It's a great honour to have.

"I wasn't nervous until yesterday and then I was thinking surely I'll get an inkling whether I'll get it or not by tonight but I didn't have a clue.

"You're kind of looking around at who was in front of me but after that then it was kind of a mix of all players across the spectrum and you're just trying to figure it out and I hadn't a clue.

"And, I was actually very nervous by the time it came around to the full-forward line and looking up at the nominees and I was saying 'I'm not getting one here' but thanks be to God I got one because as I said it is a great honour to get one.

"So yeah, last year was probably a better experience and you knew going up as well," he added.
