Donegal's Jason Quigley is expecting an imminent announcement from his management team regarding a return to the ring in October.
The Irish boxer was set to face 2012 Olympic gold medalists Ryoto Murata for the WBA middleweight world title but the fight was pulled by the WBA.
Japan's Murata has been forced to defend his strap against the mandatory challenger, Rob Brant.
Quigley spoke on Wednesday morning's OTB AM.
"I've been in touch with my management and Goldenboy over the last two or three days. We are working now towards an October date. That will be announced very shortly.
The 27-year-old says he is expecting an announcement regarding an upcoming fight in October. Quigley says his management team and Goldenboy Promotions will have an announcement sooner rather than later.
Unbeaten Quigley says he is extremely excited about a return. The Donegal man has been frustrated after a spell on the sideline with a hand injury.
"I'm excited, and I've always stayed in shape; and stayed ready. I'm ready to rock and roll come October, and there will be an announcement very shortly."
