Jack Guiney on 2015 omission: “I didn’t like the way it was made so public.”

Wexford hurler Jack Guiney says he "didn't like the way" the issues surrounding his 2015 omission from the Wexford hurling panel became so public.

The 24-year-old says he wasn’t happy about the online perception of him, after being dropped. He mentioned future or potential employers could perceive him as a troublemaker.

Then Wexford hurling manager Dunne dropped Guiney in 2015 for what was cited as “disciplinary reasons.”

“I didn’t like the way it was made so public. I didn’t like that.“

Guiney was irritated by the online perception, and what came up every time his name was looked up on an online search engine.

The Wexford spoke with Eoin Sheahan and Dotsy O'Callaghan on this morning's OTB AM

"If your employer was trying to look you up on Google, at the time. ‘It would come up as, discipline issues,’ said Guiney.

Guiney announced that he would quit the panel for personal reasons in Feb. 2016. The Rathnure man says everything related to the incident was taken out context, especially online.

“It can be used completely out of context, that’s one of the main dilemmas with the thing.”

Guiney has since returned to the panel in March of last year, under Davy Fitzgerald.

He also talks about the upcoming Championship campaign on this morning’s OTB AM. You can listen to the full interview on our Youtube channel here
