Darren Till on potential Stephen Thompson fight: "I’ll fight him, and beat him"

UFC welterweight Darren Till says a potential fight with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson is definitely happening.

Scouser Till believes he’s only one fight away from a title shot against Tyron Woodley. He says that shot will come by the end of the year.

Till spoke with OTB at the launch of the Electronic Arts ‘UFC 3’ game in London.

“Two. Next fight and then the champion.”

The Liverpudlian is coming off a sensational tko victory over longtime UFC veteran and former lightweight title challenger, Donald Cerrone, at UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland.

Till feels that he’s one big victory away from a showdown for UFC gold, and believes number one ranked welterweight Stephen Thompson is the man standing in his path to getting that shot.

“One million percent - Wonderboy needs to accept now, we both sign, then Dana needs to make the fight happen somewhere in America. I’ll fight him, and beat him. I’ll beat him. Then I’ll wait for Tyron to decide if he wants to come back or not,” said Till

Till is confident that a victory over former title challenger Stephen Thompson would be enough to earn a title shot. The Team Kaobon fighter added that he would be happy to fight for an interim title after beating Thompson, if current champion Tyron Woodley decides not to return to the division.

“I’ll wait for Tyron to decide if he’s coming back or not. If he doesn’t come back, he vacates the belt. He can put it up for me: Dos Anjos, Robbie, Masvidal or anyone.”
