Conor McGregor's camp slate *that* ESPN Crumlin article

Off The Ball got the chance to chat to Conor McGregor's agent Audie Attar on the eve of the richest bout in the history of combat sports between his client and Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.

Irish fans were left bamboozled when ESPN Magazine published Wright Thompson's article, 'Crossing Crumlin Road' which told Conor's story along side mixed narratives of warring gangs and warring boxing clubs.

The piece and this ESPN Irish-inspired promo for the fight quickly went viral across d'Emerald Isle.

It turns out that McGregor's camp were as confused as everyone else when the story was published.

"Conor spent less than ten minutes with Wright Thompson, less than ten minutes. Not the way it was written as if Conor sat there and gave him his entire genuine story of Ireland, that wasn't the case," Audie told Ger Gilroy.

"He took it upon himself to go to Ireland, go to Crumlin and somehow he was captivated by all these other storylines that have nothing to do with Conor and somehow wanted to draw this correlation as if this is Conor's biography. That wasn't the case.

"It's unfortunate - there are elements of the world that people are more infatuated and interested to talk about ... That wasn't the Conor McGregor story nor was it authorised by us, nor was it preapproved by us, nor did we know what he was writing about. Had we known, Conor wouldn't have even given him the 10 minutes that he gave," the sports agent continued.

During the feature interview, he also discussed signing the fighter before his UFC debut, seven figure endorsements, putting #MayMac together, racism allegations and the future of McGregor Inc.
