Andy Lee expects Adam Booth to bring the best out of Michael Conlan

Andy Lee joined Thursday's Off the Ball and gave his take on Michael Conlan's decision to change gyms and relocate to England.

Conlan has enjoyed an impressive start to his professional career  - currently 5-0 - after only a year in the paid ranks.

He will now train with Adam Booth, who has previously guided the careers of David Haye and George Groves, as well as Ireland's former middleweight champion Lee, and he believes the match will be a good fit. "I knew for the last couple of weeks that they were working together so Adam likes to take his time before he jumps and says 'I'll definitely train you' so they kind of had a trial period to see how they gelled together and if the chemistry was good," he told Nathan Murphy.

"It seems there is and I was speaking to Adam and he said he has seen a few things that Michael needs to improve on and work on but he's also seen some things that he's very impressed by - in terms of his intelligence in the ring and his winning mentality.

"Also, maybe the year he's had in California, sparring with the Mexicans in that tough gym - he's learned to do a lot more in-fighting than he would have as an amateur-turning-pro at this stage of his career.

"Michael was probably the best amateur in the world when he was amateur in 2016 - the Olympics aside - so there's huge potential there. There's obviously immense talent and nobody better than Adam Booth to mould that."
