One outstanding result in Geneva tonight could be enough to send Ireland to Euro 2020 earlier than expected. But getting that result against Switzerland is a different matter entirely.
The Boys in Green go into our second last Euro 2020 qualifier as underdogs. Switzerland should have beaten Denmark on Saturday based on the chances created. But for an extraordinary exhibition of goalkeeping from Kasper Schmeichel, the Swiss would have won. Nevertheless, a win for them tonight will mean they will take a big step towards the Euros at Ireland's expense.
There is so much at stake and a win for them means they would close to within a point of Ireland, with a game in hand. Mick McCarthy's side will do their utmost to prevent that circumstance from occurring.
