Offaly make two changes for O'Byrne Cup final with Longford

Offaly manager John Maughan has made two changes to his team ahead of tomorrow's Bord Na Mona O'Byrne Cup final against Longford in Tullamore.

Cian Donoghue replaces James Dempsey at right-wing-back while Kilmacud Crokes' Shane Horan has been preferred to Cian Johnson in the half-forward line.

The Faithful's star forward Niall McNamee remains sidelined with concussion and Maughan says he's unlikely to play football again for quite some time.

Offaly knocked out holders Westmeath in the semi-finals and are hoping to win the pre-season competition for the first time since 1998.

“I'm pleased that we won," Maughan told Midlands 103 after their win over the Lake County. "It's all about winning games where Offaly football is concerned and we've won four games in a row, it's been quite a while since that happened.

“I'm not overly happy with the performance to be quite honest with you, it was quite messy and sloppy, we butchered lots of good chances. It was the same for both sides but I'm just focusing on our performance.

“I was very pleased with the work ethic, the application, the desire to win the game which is encouraging. We're getting a lot of game-time into young lads as well which is good.”

Offaly team to face Longford: Paddy Dunican; David Dempsey, Eoin Rigney, Niall Darby; Cian Donohue, Shane Nally, Jordan Hayes; Cathal Mangan, Michael Brazil; Eoin Carroll, Conor McNamee, Shane Horan; Anton Sullivan, Bernard Allen, Ruairi McNamee.
