'Yet to be convinced' | Graeme Souness not a fan of Jack Grealish

Graeme Souness says he "would have loved" to have played against Jack Grealish, and added he's "not convinced" by the Aston Villa midfielder.

Souness was speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Villa's Premier League clash at champions Liverpool this afternoon.

Twenty-four-year-old Grealish has seven goals and six assists in the top-tier this season, but has failed to score in his last six games.

Souness said he had yet to be fully won over by the former Republic of Ireland underage star.

"When I was playing I would not want to be the most-fouled player in the Premier League, that means I'm holding onto the ball too long.

"That means I'm not seeing the picture early enough, and taking extra touches where I don't need to.

"It means [he's] not seeing the picture quick enough, there's no doubt about it. He has ability, he's easy on the eye, silky on the eye, but I'm yet to be convinced by him.

"I know he's got seven goals this year... when I was being coached at our club Liverpool, I was told that I make the strikers' mind up.

"With my body movement, the way I get the ball out of my feet, the way I'm shaping, I'm making them run where I look like I'm going to kick the ball.

"I just think anyone that gets tackled that much and gets that many fouls is not seeing the picture quick enough.

"I always come back to, being an old midfield player, would I have liked to play against him? I'd have loved to have played against him, because he allows me to get physical with him.

"Do I want to play against Paul Scholes? He was too quick, Xavi, Iniesta, those types... popping off one-twos.

"I wanted to play against people like him [Grealish] because I know he's going to allow me to mess him around."

Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey felt the blame needed to be partly squared at Grealish's teammates for failing to show for him.

"I don't think there's much happening for him to be honest with you, I don't think there's much movement around that allows him to take just one or two touches.

"That's his game, he likes to dribble, he likes to take people on."
