Romelu Lukaku signs for Inter from Manchester United

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.

The Belgian international put pen to paper with the Serie A side for a fee believed to be worth around €80 million (£73 million) after two years with the Manchester club.

In a post on the Inter twitter account, Lukaku is featured in a video saying, "Inter is not for everyone. That's why I'm here." The new signing is also quoted on the club's website saying, "Inter were the only club I wanted, because Inter is not eor everyone. I’m here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top."

The final deal is short of what Manchester United paid for the Belgian international to Everton two years ago. Then-United manager Jose Mourinho agreed to a deal with Goodison Park worth up to €97 million (£90 million).

The 26-year-old went on to make 96 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring 42 goals. In his time there, he won a Europa League and an English League Cup.

Speaking earlier this week, former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel said the best thing may be his departure.

"At the end of the day if you have someone like Lukaku you have to play in a certain way with him. He's a very dominant player," Schmeichel told Sky Sports.

"When you play Romelu, you have to play in a particular way, if he doesn't want to play at the club then it leaves you free to play another way. So it is an opportunity for the club, as well as being very sad.

"Once he said, 'I don't want to be here', I don't think it is beneficial for anyone that you force him to stay. I'm sure it is going to be resolved."

Schmeichel has also warned his former teammate Solskjaer not to rush into any last-minute business.

"I think, anything that happens on the last day - unless it has been ongoing - smells of panic. And I don't think Manchester United should be that kind of club.

"You should plan ahead, and already know what you are going to do in the next transfer window and the next.

"Man City have done all their business, Liverpool have done all their business. That's the competition at the moment, you have to look at what they do."
