Reports: Real Madrid lodge "club record" bid for Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid have reportedly made a late bid to sign Kylian Mbappe.

The World Cup-winning France forward is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain next summer, and has so far refused any offers of an extension.

While an exact fee has not been revealed, it's believed Real are willing to break their club record to secure the signing of Mbappe. €160million has been the feed bandied about in the Spanish media.

Real have previously paid €100million for both Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale, both of whom are still with the club.

PSG have spent big this summer, even if their incomings have been light on transfer fees.

Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum have all arrived on Bosmans, but have all earned huge signing-on fees, and bigger wages.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi - the PSG president - insists their summer business has been completed within the confines of Financial Fair-Play.

He was also insistent that Mbappe would remain with the club, despite rumoured interest from Real Madrid.

"The future of Mbappe? I think everyone knows," he said, "His future is clear.

"He said it himself, he wanted us to have a competitive team.

"Well, we have the most competitive in the world right now. So there is no excuse for him now. He can't do anything else but stay."

Real have plenty of form when it comes to running down the transfer clock.

As Diario AS pointed out, Ronaldo, Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric have all previously been signed on deadline day.
