Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as Real Madrid manager for the second time, the club has confirmed.
The Frenchman has called time on his second spell in charge of the La Liga club after a first season without a trophy in 11 years.
The news comes after Real narrowly lost out on the league title to city rivals Atletico Madrid on the final day of the season last Saturday.
Real reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before they went out at the hands of Chelsea.
Zidane has led to two league titles and three Champions League crowns since 2015 during two separate spells.
"It is now time to respect his decision and show him our appreciation for his professionalism, dedication and passion in all these years, and for what his figure represents for Real Madrid," a club statement read.
"Zidane is one of the great myths of Real Madrid and his legend goes beyond what he has been as a coach and player of our club.
"He knows that he is at the heart of Real Madrid and that Real Madrid is and will always be his home."
Real will now turn their attentions to finding a new manager but one of their reported targets Massimiliano Allegri is set to return to Juventus.
